Audinni Bespoke AV Furniture Project - Spring 2013.

Five metre white gloss fitted AV Home Cinema Cabinet.

CLIENT BRIEF:

The client was in the process of completing a significant refurbishment and extensions to a large detached Victorian town property. As part of this upgrade, a dedicated home cinema room was planned for the converted basement area.

The client was employing an interior designer, who specified a five metre fitted white gloss cabinet. There were numerous pieces of AV kit to be housed in the cabinet, including a sub-woofer, X-Box games console, Denon power amp, etc.

The interior designer approached Audinni to advise and quote on the project.

Audinni RESPONSE:

"The design process was relatively straightforward. The interior designer had a clear vision for the look of the home cinema, and it was really a case of just working out how to best accommodate the various pieces of AV equipment in a cabinet that would perform as well as it looked."

"The sub-woofer was front-firing so we specified a pair of white neutrally acoustic cloth door panels, and a cut-out to enable the sub to sit directly on the floor. Cable management and ventilation are obviously key issues in a fitted cabinet, so we designed in a hidden recess that allowed airflow along the entire rear of the cabinet. Infra-red access was provided by one of the acoustic cloth door panels.  The X-Box Kinect sensor needed to be connected via a drilled channel with a bespoke stainless steel top-cap grommet to be sprayed white to match the gloss finish. We also designed a matching white gloss housing unit for both the projector and screen."

"We then produced a series of CAD drawings and 3D renders, and provided a quote for the manufacture & fitting of the unit."

PROJECT SPECIFICS:

The cabinet took 12 weeks to complete and install. The job was complicated by some hereditary AV complications left over from  the original installer. At this point, we assumed the lead management role on the project [from an AV perspective], and brought in our own installer to rectify the issues. We also provided second-fix electrical services and plaster finishing.
